REGIONAL – Local high school seniors are busily preparing for this weekend's long-awaited event... graduation!
Bidding farewell to their high-school years, graduates will proudly walk across their home football field or down the auditorium aisles to receive their diploma, vindication for the hard work each student — and their families — have put forth.
While final figures are not available (exams are still being scored) Ellenville CSD is expected to graduate nearly 98 students during their Friday, June 26 ceremony. The event will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the football field, weather permitting, or in the high-school auditorium.
Rondout Valley CSD is expecting a similar number of graduates, at 150. Their ceremony will run from 6 to 8 p.m. on the football field Friday night, or if there's rain, at 10 a.m. the next morning, Saturday, June 27.
Pine Bush CSD, with the largest graduating class in our coverage area with approximately 450, will celebrate Saturday, June 27, on the football field beginning at 9 a.m. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved to 6 p.m. later that evening, and then rescheduled to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28 if inclement weather continues. In the event that weather conditions don't improve, the ceremony will take place in the main gym at 5 p.m. on that Sunday.
A quick glance at the forecast suggests a chance of rain — but isn't there always the threat of rain when planning a summer party?
Regardless, we suspect the graduating class of 2015 will care very little about precipitation when Sir Edward Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance commences.... and we tip our hats, "Congratulations seniors — job well done!"
Or moments later when, inside or out, those mortarboards go flying!
